Proteus Oracle Ms Planner Ecosys compared

There are many project management software options available. So how does Proteus stick up against the competition? Getting the right technology in place can have a huge impact on project success, streamlining key workflows and delivering best practice processes.

Our customers at Proteus have given us great feedback. We want to share our analysis on how we compare to our competitors.

Our clients operate in the engineering and energy sectors. We help companies that already have disconnected software or use large spreadsheets to manage their projects. This creates many challenges, from a lack of control and collaboration to wasting time on repetitive tasks.

When a company comes to us looking for a solution, they want to understand how we differentiate from the other tools out there. We are not going to hide from this one: there is a huge variety of software products to choose from, each with its benefits.

However, one of the key points that we make sure all our clients are aware of is that commonly we are not competing, we are complementing. To use the industry terminology, we integrate with other software and databases to create a solution that meets the needs of any unique business model in the engineering industry.

That said, there are some clear consistent core features and functionalities. We wanted to compare Proteus with three popular project management software tools. These tools are Oracle Primavera, Microsoft Planner, and EcoSys. This comparison would be helpful for us.

Please note that we obtained this information from the software’s websites and tried to be as objective as possible. (Tip: if you have been tasked to measure up project management software, use this content to speed up your research process!)

MS Planner

You don’t need any prior knowledge to operate (AKA beginners will do just fine!) Additionally, adding projects to your dashboard in MS Planner is very easy.

Ecosys helps you execute key project portfolio management processes with confidence. Including portfolio planning and control, resource management, capital budgeting and planning, estimating and benchmarking, cost control, risk, issue and change management.

Proteus is an enterprise solution, integrated with Microsoft SSO to provide the highest level of security possible. MS Planner is included with most Microsoft 365 licenses, allowing users to access it as a web-based or desktop app.

Ecosys is a fully web-based software platform that scales to the enterprise. It can be deployed on-premises, in a managed hosting environment, or as a SaaS solution. Choose which option is best suited to your IT, infrastructure and access needs.

User Interface and Ease of Use

Proteus sits at the centre of your business, simplifying processes and reducing time spent on low-value tasks. The interface looks great and is easy and convenient for all users. You can perform actions quickly, in up to one second, and familiar functionality e.g. drag and drop makes it intuitive and dynamic.

Oracle Primavera P6

Oracle is complex. It generates metrics and arrays of indices for decision-making in project management. It has robust scheduling tools enabling coordination between teams and you can easily manage users and permissions.

MS Planner

The first thing that hits you about the MS Planner app is its interface. If you’re familiar with Kanban project management, you’ll feel right at home with MS Planner’s easy-to-use Kanban interface that anyone can master. You can also use buckets as makeshift statuses.

Ecosys is complex, but it is comprehensive. It has many features to track and manage your project financials. Able to manage big datasets and provide different types of project cost control analysis.

Customization and Flexibility

Proteus is an out-of-the-box solution with the ability to configure Proteus to your business. Customisable features mean that you can drill down on metrics and have full control over your teams’ work. Any specific customer requirements can be provided by our in-house development team.

Oracle Primavera P6

Interactive Gantt charts help planners, schedulers, and project managers share a detailed visual schedule of a project. Layouts can be customized depending on the information we want to display. You can modify these types of reports as you build them; you can group, filter, sort, and summarize them.

MS Planner

MS Planner doesn’t give you multiple views to work with. Your team is forced to adjust to this specific project management tool. One of the reasons you can’t prioritize tasks is because MS Planner can’t calculate a project’s critical path. This means that you’ll have no idea which tasks are crucial for your project’s completion, making time management a problem.

Ecosys allows you to customize the system for your projects without needing to program. This helps you track, predict, and manage projects in a way that works best for your organization.

Collaboration and Sharing

Proteus is designed to make collaboration between teams, departments and third parties easy. Get full visibility over project data. Provide your teams with the necessary tools to easily create and monitor accurate and professional project plans and reports.”

Oracle Primavera P6

Oracle allows businesses to unify and coordinate their teams around a shared project plan. Oracle facilitates collaboration among project team members with features such as instant messaging, task management, feedback, and document management.

MS Planner

Teams can automate time-consuming tasks like task delegation, meeting scheduling, and reminders.

EcoSys helps team members access data easily by creating a single project ecosystem. This ecosystem displays all resources in one place. This makes it convenient for everyone on the team to find the information they need.

It streamlines the process of accessing and sharing data within the team. This enables proactive and informed decisions, ultimately reducing costs and improving scheduling.

Cost and Licensing

Proteus has flexible pricing starting at $100 for consultancies and operators, depending on the level of complexity needed. For our enterprise customers we offer competitively priced tiers and bespoke development services.

Oracle Primavera P6

MS Planner

Microsoft offers MS Planner for certain plans. To use all features, you must buy extra Microsoft Planner plug-ins. These include reporting tools, card estimates, Gantt charts, and more.
