There are many project management software options available. So how does Proteus stick up against the competition? Getting the right technology in place can have a huge impact on project success, streamlining key workflows and delivering best practice processes.

Our customers at Proteus have given us great feedback. We want to share our analysis on how we compare to our competitors.

Intro

Our clients operate in the engineering and energy sectors. We help companies that already have disconnected software or use large spreadsheets to manage their projects. This creates many challenges, from a lack of control and collaboration to wasting time on repetitive tasks.

When a company comes to us looking for a solution, they want to understand how we differentiate from the other tools out there. We are not going to hide from this one: there is a huge variety of software products to choose from, each with its benefits.

However, one of the key points that we make sure all our clients are aware of is that commonly we are not competing, we are complementing. To use the industry terminology, we integrate with other software and databases to create a solution that meets the needs of any unique business model in the engineering industry.

That said, there are some clear consistent core features and functionalities. We wanted to compare Proteus with three popular project management software tools. These tools are Oracle Primavera, Microsoft Planner, and EcoSys. This comparison would be helpful for us.

Please note that we obtained this information from the software’s websites and tried to be as objective as possible. (Tip: if you have been tasked to measure up project management software, use this content to speed up your research process!)

Oracle Primavera P6

Oracle is complex. It generates metrics and arrays of indices for decision-making in project management. It has robust scheduling tools enabling coordination between teams and you can easily manage users and permissions.

MS Planner

The first thing that hits you about the MS Planner app is its interface. If you’re familiar with Kanban project management, you’ll feel right at home with MS Planner’s easy-to-use Kanban interface that anyone can master. You can also use buckets as makeshift statuses.

Ecosys

Ecosys is complex, but it is comprehensive. It has many features to track and manage your project financials. Able to manage big datasets and provide different types of project cost control analysis.

Oracle Primavera P6

Interactive Gantt charts help planners, schedulers, and project managers share a detailed visual schedule of a project. Layouts can be customized depending on the information we want to display. You can modify these types of reports as you build them; you can group, filter, sort, and summarize them.

MS Planner

MS Planner doesn’t give you multiple views to work with. Your team is forced to adjust to this specific project management tool. One of the reasons you can’t prioritize tasks is because MS Planner can’t calculate a project’s critical path. This means that you’ll have no idea which tasks are crucial for your project’s completion, making time management a problem.

Ecosys

Ecosys allows you to customize the system for your projects without needing to program. This helps you track, predict, and manage projects in a way that works best for your organization.

It streamlines the process of accessing and sharing data within the team. This enables proactive and informed decisions, ultimately reducing costs and improving scheduling.
